In the Summer of 2012, I stumbled across the work of photographer Francesca Woodman. I became so engrossed in this emotionally charged, direct and raw body of work that I immediately went into the studio and began creating THE WOODMAN PROJECT. THE WOODMAN PROJECT is a series of solos, duets, and small group pieces created in response to the most dominant themes in Woodman’s work: relationships, sexuality, questions of self, body image, alienation, isolation, confusion and her exploration of the body in relation to space, architecture, and movement.
Performed by a diverse group of professional and amateur dancers (ranging in age from 5-48 years old) THE WOODMAN PROJECT will bring life to Woodman’s beautiful, yet unsettling black and white self-portraits.
